Service to Oyster 17 Yacht 12th July 2006

 

A person visited the station and informed John Cannell that a person attempting to sail around the Norfolk coast in an open yacht was experiencing difficulties near Winterton Ness the vessel had a 4 h.p. engine and was nearly out of petrol.

The person was put in touch with H.M. Coastguards. After trying to contact the vessel by VHF with no success, the coastguard requested the lifeboat to launch at 12.13. The lifeboat launched at 12.18 the vessel was found alone close to the shore South of Winterton Ness. John Cannell crewman was put aboard to connect a tow to the vessel which was beached at Caister at 1.50 and recovered by ILB tractor.
