Caister's New Lifeboat 2005
   
     
Service launch Lifeboat 37.01 - Body in the sea 13th February 2005  
At about 9:13 the coastguard telephoned the launching authority and requested the lifeboat to launch to search for a body in the sea. The crew were paged at 9:15 the lifeboat launched at 9:33 with a very heavy swell to the beach.

Whilst proceeding to the scene the coastguard expressed concern at the sea condition, and as there was no life in danger asked if the lifeboat wished to continue, the immediate response from the coxswain was that they would continue. The lifeboat arrived on scene at Sea Palling at 10:11, the coastguard requested the lifeboat to search through to Walcott close inshore. At 10:58 the crew spotted an object close inshore which resembled a body near to the coastguard lookout at Happisburgh, it disappeared in the heavy breaking swell. The search was called off at 12:53 and due to the swell the lifeboat beached at Beaconsfield Road Great Yarmouth at 13:20 and was re-housed at 13:48.
